FARMERS WANT PEACEFUL 2019 POLLS

Farmers in Nigeria under the auspices of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) have called for the conduct of a peaceful general elections this year to sustain the gains recorded in the agriculture sector. They, therefore, appealed to relevant stakeholders to increase their efforts to guarantee peace during and after the 2019 elections. The Vice President of AFAN, Chief Daniel Okafor told newsmen in Abuja that without peace during and after the elections, farmers would not be able to go to their farms.

CULTURE: NIGER GOVT. SUPPORTS YOUTHS ACTIVITIES

The Niger state Government will continue to support initiatives by individual groups and associations geared towards making the youth valuable and self reliant through entrepreneurship development. The State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello gave the assurance at the second edition of annual Paigokni cultural fiesta held in Paiko Local Government Area of the state.

AIR FORCE LOST AIRCRAFT IN BOKO HARAM FIGHT

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), says its Helicopter was lost in combat while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information announced this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

“The mission was part of the ongoing counter insurgency operations in the North East,’’ he said.

He said the incident occurred at about 7:45 p.m on Wednesday.
